Hawaiian Hurricane

New Orleans is an awesome place to visit and the birthplace of one of my favorite sweet drinks – The Hurricane. It was developed in the 40's because they had a lot of cheap rum they had to unload. With 4 ounces of rum, it is as strong as a Hurricane and if you’re not careful, it will blow you away! Living in Florida we dealt with many Hurricanes (the weather kind) over the years. Here in Hawaii we just had our first brush this season with Hurricane Douglas. The good news is that Hurricane Douglas veered north and spared all the Hawaiian Islands which inspired a drink with a Hawaiian twist! Laura and I both agree fresh juice from the farm made all the difference. Note: my shot glass is 2 ounces so there is 4 ounces in the Hawaiian version too!
